Have you tried Nutella?

So, my sister Debs received a multi pack of Nutella in her stocking for Christmas. My first thought... What is Nutella and what's the big deal about it? Tonight I was browsing through Farm Fresh (one of my favoirte things to do after a busy week is hit a 'nice' grocery store) and found some Nutella so I figured I'd give it a try. Wow! I see what the excitement is about! Fabulous. Chocolate in place of peanut butter (which I'm also a BIG fan of)!! Why didn't I think of that?

We have definitely tried Nutella (you can buy several generics here in Cameroon). The first time we went grocery shopping here (Steve and Beth took us), Beth pointed it out to me. I bought a jar, and when I got home and saw the consistency of the chocolate, it became the easy way to get our girls to take their malaria prevention pills without any fuss or them tasting the nasty pills (that are supposed to be swallowed). We stick the pill in the middle of a glop of Nutella and the girls are more than willing to take their medicine. :-)

For a treat, we let Kayla have a peanut butter and Nutella sandwich instead of PB&J. She thinks it's the best treat!

One time I even frosted a cake with it. I had made a birthday cake for our babysitter, and I didn't have time to make the frosting that day but no worries -- I slapped some Nutella on the yellow cake and it worked fun even if it didn't look as nice as frosting would have.

Wow, Karis! Sounds like you have found some great uses for this stuff! I especially like the idea of frosting a cake with it - haha!

This is so funny....I don't think I've had Nutella before..but was recently introduced to Ovaltine :) It's amazing how good some of that stuff can be.

I can't believe so many people haven't tried it before. How can you live without it? Dip pretzels, apples, crackers,in it. Sometimes in College we used to have pretzels and nutella eating fests. :-) I Love it

Nutella is definitely big here. Next time you want a real good snack spread peanut butter on one piece of bread, Nutella on another and slice up a banana to put in the middle! Or just dip a banana in the Nutella - yum!
